Udaipur
As we arrived at the Trident Hilton in Udaipur, a very large Hindu wedding was underway. There were dancers twirling flaming batons, dancers, drums, bagpipes and loads of glamorous guests. Guests in the hotel are speaking Hindi, French, German and English. The hotel resembles a maharajah's palace and should be fun to explore in the daylight. It's nearly 11 PM and we are wondering why we're so tired.
There was pandemonium at breakfast with too many guests. So much food was gone and there were messes everywhere. The staff was obviously overwhelmed but they managed to smile and worked hard to accomodate us.
On the road, there were wonderful sights of tribal families with dromedaries and water buffalo-powered waterwheels. We drove along narrow roads with bicycles, motorcycles, tuk-tuks, cars, taxis and buses all playing the game of chicken with pedestrians.
We had a tour of Udaipur and the 15th century palace now used as city offices. Please click on the picture to open up those photos.
